Murad Al Wathba (winner on debut at Al Ain on 28/10/2022)

The UAE racing season has begun in the best possible way for the progeny of Wathba Stallions at Al Ain on Friday 28th October and Sharjah on Sunday 30th October.

Murad Al Wathba (Mahabb) made an impressive debut in the second race on the card at Al Ain, a maiden race for 3yos over 1400m. He won by a comfortable margin of eight lengths. Trained by Jean de Roüalle, Murad Al Wathba was ridden to victory by Dane O’Neill. The association Jean de Roüalle – Dane O’Neill won two more victories at Sharjah two days later.

On Sunday, the podium of the second race on the card, a maiden race for UAE-bred 3yos over 1000m, highlighted Al Wathba Racing colours: Sadiq Al Wathba (Mahabb) won for Jean de Roüalle and Dane O’Neill, whilst Najm Al Wathba finished second and Majd Al Wathba (Raaziq) finished third.

Farhaan (Rabbah de Carrere) had a promising first season in training with one win and three second places in four starts during the 2021-2022 racing season. He won the Longines Conquest Handicap, over 1700m, for his reappearance this season. Trained by Jean-Claude Pecout, Farhaan was ridden by Patrick Dobbs. Majdi (Mijdadd) finished second.

The third win of the day for Wathba Stallions came from Hakaam (Mahabb) in the featured race of the day, HE Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Cup, a 2000m handicap. Dane O’Neill rode the four-year-old trained by Jean de Roüalle confidently and they bravely resisted the attacks of their competitors.
