Wathba Stallion AREEM sired his first winner on the first race day of the year in Abu Dhabi: BASSAM AL WATHBA won the Dalma maiden race on 12th January, over 1400m, for trainer Majed Al Jahoori. The 4yo colt was making his debut, ridden by Bernardo Pinheiro. They took the lead at the start and won by more than two lengths.
AREEM, by champion sire MAHABB, started his career at three in France before being exported to the UAE. He performed at the highest level from three to seven, winning eight races including four Group 1 races. His dam, Canelle de Carrere (Djamel), has produced GAIRA (Akbar), Stakes winner and dam of Group 1 winner WADEEAA (Mahabb) and Group 1 placed Sardan (Mahabb). Canelle de Carrere is also the granddam of Group 1 winner HARRAB (Bibi de Carrere).
